The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center is, after the Pentagon, the nation’s largest federal building. The construction of this monumental structure marked the completion of the Federal Triangle, an enclave of executive department buildings first envisioned by Washington’s planners more then 70 years ago. James Ingo Freed, the building’s design architect, discusses the challenges associated with the project.
