The National Building Museum recognizes Turner Construction Company as its 2013 Honor Awardee. The selection celebrates Turner’s 111 years of leadership in the construction industry. Featured as Tribute Speaker, Louis Chênevert, Chairman & CEO of United Technologies (UTC) and past Honor Award recipient (2009), has first-hand knowledge of Turner’s core philosophy of innovation and efficiency. Peter Davoren, President & CEO of Turner Construction Company, will accept the award on behalf of everyone who has worked for Turner over its long history.

Preserving the Guastavino Legacy

National Building Museum Awarded $50,000 Grant

The National Building Museum has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Art Works program. The funds will support design, planning, and architecture educational programs that will target underserved youth in Washington via design curriculum delivered at the Museum and at local schools.

The National Building Museum announced today that it has selected Turner Construction Company as its 2013 Honor Awardee. The selection recognizes Turner’s 111 years of leadership in the construction industry. The Museum will present the award to Turner on June 4, 2013 at the Museum’s annual Honor Award gala.

National Building Museum Teams Up with Transitional Housing Corporation to Revitalize Community

This spring, the Museum is partnering with the Transitional Housing Corporation (THC), founded in 1990 as a faith-based homeless services organization. DAP participants will design and build at least five pieces of furniture for various families entering THC’s two-year transitional housing program. In addition to building functional furniture, DAP participants aim to create a sense of home for a family in flux. Teens will investigate what makes a house a home and the needs of displaced families.
